| A Multi-Tasker or A Focused Employee . . . What’s Your Preference? |
By:

It’s important to ask this question to ourselves from time to time. Although a multi-tasker has good intentions to complete his job for the day, his ‘to-do’ list is always never-ending. A focused employee on the on the other hand always seems to have more time on his hands.
Why?
A multi-tasker is usually either a shy person or an individual who prefers to find his own answers and does not believe in learning from the mistakes of others. A multi-tasker is usually not focused on the job at hand and has a tendency to waste a lot of time trying to do many things at a time and appears busy.
A focused individual usually shares his knowledge and information with others and collects data that assists him in avoiding mistakes saving him a lot time which could have otherwise been wasted. This approach of sharing information and learning from others keeps him focused at all times. Such an individual may discuss his personal and professional problems just as students seek out a teacher to help solve their questions.
A focused person has a mind that is open to everything but attached to nothing. He is a willing and able student who is open to learning from everyone. He knows that a coach is an important and an integral part of one’s life.
A focused person always shares and discusses his life situations with a person he looks up to as a coach because he knows that:
1. A coach draws out a person’s potential rather than put in knowledge from outside.
2. A coach helps to develop and never imposes.
3. A coach does not teach but helps one think instead.
4. As a responsive and flexible individual himself, a coach allows for personal transition on an individual basis.
5. A coach never assumes and does not judge.
6. A coach does not prescribe a ready made solution nor does he give any instructions on any matter.
A coach helps an individual in virtually every aspect of personal development, be it career direction and development, management, executive and leadership, business start-up, entrepreneurism, life skills, personal fulfilment and life-balance including the acquisition of specific skills or knowledge.
A coach also helps in improving relationships at home, with family and partners, at work with clients and colleagues, at play with friends and acquaintances and with one self.
Whatever the reasons for people deciding to work with coaches, whatever the type of coaching given, and whatever results clients seek from coaching, a common feature in all coaching relationship is that coaching is a two-way process.
Coach-Client relationship gives them both:
1. Accelerated personal growth and understanding of self
2. A life-long journey of personal excellence and knowledge.
3. The ability to enhance any job – role in any organization and industry – Coaching brings out the best in people and motivates them to be the very best in whatever they do – in all manner of jobs and careers.
4. More options in life.
5. A right and good purpose and meaning in life, measured in real value terms of effort and reward, not lost in a corporate fog.
Little can compare to really making a difference in another person’s life.
